How can you determine your inner strength if you have never stepped over fear?
How to learn to fly without leaving the boundaries of a small cosy nest?
I once read about a member of "Iron Men" with a paralyzed arm. These are the hardest trials with running, swimming and cycling. The team members sympathized and offered assistance to the athlete, but he replied that he would compensate with his feet instead. And he was able to complete it.
What do you think psychology and sporting achievements have in common? Plenty.
Both for athletic and personal growth, you need a rod. Will. Some have it by birth, and others cultivate it in themselves, long and hard. But there is no such person on the planet who could not grow a spiritual spine in himself.
Imagine life in the usual rhythm, in constant comfort, without risk and ... alas, growth. And the thing is that our psyche is a magnificent defence mechanism, which has been saving our lives since prehistoric times. It tries to save energy for a jerk - a sudden necessity to run away from a predator, in a word, the psyche defends, but does not attack.
All the usual human reactions are low-cost, economical and almost automated. Any performing beyond comfort occurs through internal stress. The psyche rebels and tries to return everything as it was.
People who have achieved something in life are those who have undergone a personal transformation through overcoming themselves. The process is painful, complicated. But the result is always worth it.
To create an environment for changes in human life, you need to learn responsibility and accept internal changes. Remove settings that prevent you from understanding yourself, as a result, find your place and be happy. "I am a resource" as a philosophy of life. As a formula that we have realized and can operate with numbers, solving any problem.
Back to the sports. Imagine that a simple run in the park is an act of self-esteem, self-care, a small gesture, an opportunity to prove to yourself that you are bigger, stronger, more persistent, you can just go and run. You overcame laziness. A small victory that can be the beginning of something more.
Personal growth is also always about overcoming. A muscle grows only with an increase in load, and the will trains only in contact with tests. Self-esteem and self-worth are impossible without a victory over one's settings and limitations.
What we do when faced with trials is our choice. Roll back into the nest or jump beyond it, knowing the joy of flying - we decide for ourselves every day.
